Lane is a native of Maryville, TN who began his music career in 2007 with the release of his debut LP, The Best Way to Get There. Three years later, he found himself on the final stage at the Southern Fried Poetry Slam, and in 2011 on the group finals stage at the National Poetry Slam.
In 2018, he joined the National Speakers Association and began performing custom poetic experiences for schools, corporate events, and non-profit galas.

As one half of the spoken word poetry duo I.N.K, he has performed at countless colleges and universities across the country. Beyond the stage, Jonathan facilitates original creativity-unlocking workshops for a multitude of populations, including aspiring writers of all ages, youth, veterans, entrepreneurs, rural communities, folks in recovery, and many more. He seamlessly blends his expertise as a performer and writer with his passion for teaching, all while remaining an avid and dedicated dad-joke connoisseur.

Questions & Answers
Do you provide your own mic or sound equipment?
Sound equipment must be provided by the contractee. However, we can arrange sound for an additional fee if requested at the time of booking.
How much setup or soundcheck time do you need?
We require 1 hour of soundcheck for performances without video, and 2 hours when video components are included.
Can you perform in non-traditional or unconventional spaces?
Absolutely — we thrive in unique environments such as outdoor events, classrooms, and retreats.
Can your performance be captioned or made accessible?
Accessibility depends on the contractee’s setup, but for performances with video elements, captions can be arranged if requested at the time of booking.
Can you tailor a performance to a specific theme, audience, or event goal?
Yes — we deeply customize our performances. We research your organization and audience, and often uncover insights that even internal teams haven’t named yet!
Can you incorporate our brand messaging or event objectives?
100% yes. Integrating your mission or message is a core part of our creative process.
Can we combine the performance with a workshop, breakout, or Q&A?
Yes — believe it or not we actually prefer pairing the performance with deeper engagement opportunities.
Do you travel for events?
Yes — we travel nationwide and internationally.
Please note that travel can be billed as all-inclusive, added as a separate item, or arranged directly by the client.
How far in advance should we book?
We recommend 90 days for the best customization options.
While we do take last-minute bookings, our offerings may be less customizable as the event approaches.
Can we record or livestream the performance?
We prefer no live-streaming or recording without prior approval, but exceptions have been made. Let’s discuss your needs.
Do you require a deposit?
Yes — a 50% deposit is due 14 days before the event for corporations, associations, and nonprofits.
Government entities may request Net 30 terms.
What’s included in your booking fee?
